What causes lower back pain?

Lower back pain can present as intense and severe, or as dull, aching, and nagging. You may experience it after an incident, such as moving furniture or a car accident, or it may develop over time due to arthritis or poor posture.

What treatments are available for lower back pain?

Your specific treatment plan depends on the underlying cause of your lower back pain. At Keystone Health & Wellness Center, the primary goal of the providers is to diagnose the underlying cause of your back pain so they can effectively relieve it.

We use chiropractic adjustments to realign the vertebrae and relieve nerve and muscular pain caused by these imbalances. We also educate you on exercises to help improve your posture and correct muscle imbalances.

You may be provided with a back brace for soft tissue support and decompression of your lumbar spine concurrent to progressing on your physical therapy program.

We may also treat you with TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) therapy, using a machine that sends stimulating pulses across your skin to help prevent pain signals from reaching the brain. The stimulation also encourages your body to produce higher levels of endorphins, natural chemicals that dull pain sensations.

Hormone therapy, natural supplements, and other systemic directed treatments may be called for in alleviating your back pain as well.
